BML#50 Engineer's View of the "Beavertail" Curve, Belfast, ME

View from the engineer's position in BML#50 of the "Beavertail" Curve heading inland from the Upper Bridge (MP 1.25) on the B&MLRR's 33-mile main line from Belfast to Burnham Junction. The "Beavertail" is the name of the spit of land extending out into the Passassakawakaeg River visible out of the side windows of the locomotive's cab. This GE 70-Ton diesel electric locomotive was purchased new by the B&ML in November, 1946, and remains in service today despite being about to reach the "retirement" age of 65!
