Station at Limon, COOn the Kyle RR near UP Junction at Limon, CO. At the diamond with the UP in Limon, CO on the former Denver-Chicago line of the Rock Island. Limon Railroad Depot (also known as Limon Station) was a major Union Pacific and Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad station. The Kyle Railroad a short-line railroad that runs from North Central Kansas into Eastern Colorado over the ex Rock island and leased UP (625 miles) track. The KYLE interchanges with the Class I carriers, KO, BNSF and UP. The Kyle started operations on former RI portion in February 1982 and operations on UP leased lines began on June 2, 1991. On January 22, 1997, StatesRail of Dallas, TX acquired Kyle Railway, Inc. The StatesRail operations were sold to RailAmerica in January 2002
The major commodities moving on the KYLE include wheat, soybeans, milo maize, alcohols, siding asphalt and roofing granules. The KYLE moves around 20,000 cars a year, with a roster of about 25 used locos.
