United States Army Transportation Corps #4012

One of a series of Baldwin/Whitcomb 60 ton locomotives designed RS4TC-1. These were built in the early 1950's as the Army mobilized for the Korean War. 4012 is seen here in service in Germany, circa 1971-72. Note the European-style buffers. The locomotive also had special axles allowing the wheels to be easily adjusted for different gauges. More about these interesting locomotives can be found at www.utahrails.net.
