Removal of Crossing, Chestnut Street, Danvers, MA

This is the removal of the Chestnut Street crossing in Danvers around 1986. This location is just north of Maple Street, downtown Danvers. This line was last active to Topsfield in the late ‘70s when a washout just ahead near the Danvers High School closed the line for good. All rails were removed from this area in 2010 as part of the rail trail.

Photographed by Stephen Delaney, 1986.
Added to the photo archive by Stephen Delaney, February 22, 2011.
Railroad: Pan Am Railways.
