Pennsylvania Coal Company Gravity Railroad: 12 of 18This view looks east on Plane 11. Remarkably, there are still railroad ties in place! These ties undoubtedly date back to the 1870's or even earlier. Although the scene appears flat, the photographer is actually facing uphill on an inclined plane used to haul loaded coal cars to the top of Moosic Mountain.
