US Army Whitcomb RS4TC #1258

Susan B at Potash, Utah
U. S. Army 1258 built in October 1953 and assigned to New Cumberland Army Depot, Pennsylvania; moved to Ft. Eustis, Virginia September 1971; rebuilt at Tooele Army Depot rail shop on Hill AFB, July 1973; in transit at Omaha, Nebraska in April 1980; returned to Hill AFB by April 1981; assigned to Ft. Eustis, Virginia from 1985-1988; en transit at Raceland, Kentucky in August 1991; donated to Ogden Union Station and on display there by May 1994, painted in fresh red USA paint; sold (?) to Fluor Daniel Fernald (OHFX) by April 1999, used in cleanup of former DoE Fernald uranium refinery near near Cincinatti, Ohio (known as Fernald Environmental Management Project), site closure completed by late 2000; in transit at Kansas City, Missouri in April 2007, going to Moab, Utah, named "Susan B" with additional lettering: "Fernald Environmental Management Project." (Locomotive Notes II, Issue 250, page 20)

OHFX 1250, like its twin 1258, is considered contaminated after participating in a uranium mill cleanup in Fernald, OH. Both will be stored in a fenced Department of Energy pen at the very end of the branch
