On Board Buffet Car, Extra 5017 West

Lounging inside the buffet car heading west to Roxbury on a late fall afternoon.

This car was originally built for Minneapolis & St. Paul by Budd Company in 1948. Now part of the so-called Rip Van Winkle Flyer set. This car is also sometimes called a Tavern-Lounge Car. It features comfortable seats, handy tables and a small snack bar at one end.

This is a wonderful way to step back in time and remember what rail travel was like in its heyday.
