This cutie sees regular service several time a week when heavy cargo needs to be loaded or unloaded to/from ship to rail.
This firm handles oversize loads such as transformers, boilers, refinery components and anything else that may need to be transloaded.
Their trackage is connected to the CSAO Chemical Coast Line via a turnout and some street crossings. This firm is at the end of the spur, with a petroleum company between them and the Chemical Coast Line. The Petroleum Company uses and Trackmobile for spotting their tankcars and we were told they didn't care for photography too much, so we bypassed their operation.
On the other hand, when we arrived at this location, we commenced in taking our images through fences. That is until we were approached by a rather young gentleman who inquired as to our presence and activities.
We told him we were railfans, but also that I was in fact a historian of New York Area industrial railroads. Well, the gent just replied "Geez, why didn't you just ring the bell? Come on in, I'll take you into the yard and you can take all the pictures you want!"
As it turns out our young guide was Paul Dengel, vice present of the firm! He is a railbuff as well, so we were in good hand and good company! We were able to photgraph the equipment from all angles, and even climb aboard for cab interior photos!
Paul knew much of the history on the two locomotives here, as well as most of the rolling stock.
This particular locomotive is ex-Navy, Philly Navy Yard #24. It's in great shape!
