NS Southern Tier Rebuilding Project at Campville, NYNS is performing massive trackwork between Binghamton, NY and Waverly in preparation for additional traffic. This section of line was a combination of welded rail (50 mph) and stick rail (25 mph) with one-directional signalling under Conrail. NS will single track the section with passing sidings at Owego and Waverly. This stretch looks west at Campville, NY and features a new bi-directional signal mast in preparation for the single-tracking. Track 2 (the eastbound main on the left) will be retained, while Track 1 (the westbound main on the right) will be removed. Although the rails on Track 1 still appears to be shiny, the track is already out-of-service as a new control point was cut in a few miles to the west at Owego.
