Derailment at Conklin Yard, NY

Conklin Yard, NY (just south of Binghamton) lived up to its reputation as "Malfunction Junction" on the morning of Saturday, 09/25/2010. The CP 510 (Conklin to Taylor local) derailed the evening before, putting a Hanjin stack car on the ground. Heavy equipment from RJ Corman can be seen on the left about to begin the task of rerailing the car. In the meantime, traffic in and out of the south end of Conklin was totally plugged. The Conrail unit on the right would eventually lead the 412 south later in the day.
