Poughkeepsie Bridge "Walkway over the Hudson" at Highland, NYAfter the Poughkeepsie Bridge burned in 1974, there were fears that the bridge would have to be dismantled due to safety concerns. Fortunately, efforts were organized to not only restore and preserve the bridge, but open it up as a public walkway. On October 3, 2009 the bridge opened as "Walkway over the Hudson". Parking is available at both Highland (west shore) and Poughkeepsie (east shore). The bridge is approximately 8,000 feet long and the view from the walkway is incomparable. This view is looking east at the entrance to the bridge from Highland, NY. The shot was taken on Saturday June 12, 2010.
