Stuffed and Mounted WabashWabash E8 #1008 operated on the likes of the "Blue Bird", "Banner Blue" and "Wabash Cannonball" during its career in the midwest.
After Wabash became part of Norfolk & Western in 1964, the railroad's passenger cab units were gradually retired in favor of passenger train-capable GPs.
The 1008 survived to become a display at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, where it is shown in 1975.
The E8 was EMD's 10,000th unit when it was built.
