Reading EMU

Reading Company #9001 is one of 17 similar EMUs added to the railroad's commuter fleet in the early 1960s. Budd built the cars to its Pioneer III design.

The cars, when built, were the most modern rolling stock in a fleet that otherwise consisted of 1930-vintage EMUs built when the Reading electrified its Philadelphia-area commuter routes.

The train is inbound for Philadelphia at Main Street in Norristown, Pa. The stop is one of three in the town on the Reading's Norristown Line.

Outbound trains from Philadelphia terminate at Elm Street station, about two blocks north of this stop. The main station in Norristown is at Dekalb Street on the south side of the central business district.
