Deutsche Bundesbahn Class 212 is a center-cab diesel-hydraulic capable of a variety of roles. DB used it in passenger, freight, work train and switching roles as recently as the early 2000s.

Here, a Class 212 is serving as the station switcher at Altona Bahnhof in Hamburg, Germany. It had just coupled onto a coach and a Class 218 locomotive set out off an inbound train.
