Former St. Louis-San Francisco 4-8-2 #1522 emerged from retirement at the National Museum of Transport in the late 1980s for the St. Louis Steam Train Association.

The vintage Mountain operated on excursions in the St. Louis area, and also spent a season leading the BNSF Employee Appreciation Special.

The steamer is shown on one of the still-active tracks at St. Louis Union Station.
