In 1974 Chessie helped Reading finance a number of GP39-2's. These moved on to D&H with the coming of Conrail. When Guilford gave up on D&H and it was purchased by Canadian Pacific CSX reclaimed the units. In March of 1994 a number of these units showed up in local service out of Apex, NC. 4309 was one such unit.
