CENTRAL VERMONT

Central Vermont 2-8-0 450 crossing the trestle at Horton's Cove. I had spent the morning at the CV's roundhouse in New London where there were still several active 2-8-0's. I followed 450 up the Thames River for six miles and watched her do some work at Montville and on the Palmertown Branch and then got one of my favorite shots while she crossed the trestle just north of the Montville station. M-3a 450 was built by Schenectady in 1916 and is distinctive for being the only M-3a 2-8-0 with an Elesco feedwater heater - the others had Coffin feedwater heaters.
