DOUBLE HEADED N&W PACIFICS

Norfolk & Western E-2a 4-6-2's 578 and 563 have paused at St. Paul, Virginia on May 4, 1957 with the Bluefield to Norton local. Train Number 5 is heavy today because several cars are for a NRHS group of which I am part. This segment is part of a three day trip out of Washington to view the nearly all steam N&W. Pacific 578 (Richmond 1910) has been preserved but 563 was scrapped the next year.

Photographed by EDWARD OZOG, May 4, 1957.
Added to the photo archive by Edward Ozog, March 2, 2010.
