NORFOLK & WESTERN LOCAL

Bluefield to Norton, Virginia local Number 5 with double-headed Pacifcs 563 and 578. The two locomotives are needed because the train includes several cars for a NRHS group of which I am part. Passengers from the NRHS group had the option of sleepng/riding in a Pullman or using a coach and sleeping at the Hotel Roanoke during the three-day May 1957 weekend over the N&W and Southern. I chose the coach/hotel -- $37.50 for six different steam-powered trains and two nights at the Hotel Roanoke.
