SA-3 at the swing bridge in South River, NJ

After a bridge maintainer drove out to manually close the swing bridge (yes believe it or not, a manually operated swing bridge still exists in New Jersey), Conrail/Shared Assets local SA-3 shoves East with 2 empties. This bridge will most likely never be motorized as a local crosses this bridge only once or twice a week to serve that last 2 remaining customers on the 6 mile segment West from here towards the end of track in New Brunswick.

This trackage was once the main line of the very busy 12 mile long Raritan River Railroad until it was absorbed by Conrail in 1980.
