Headed to Pine Orchard

Branford Steam Railroad train of hopper cars rounds the curved bridge over State Route 80, as it takes its loads of trap rock (basalt) from the Tilcon quarry on Totoket Mountain down to the pier where the stone is loaded on barges to be taken to Long Island. The railroad also handles ballast trains for Amtrak, Metro-North and Providence & Worcester via its Amtrak interchange in Pine Orchard.
