D&H Gravity RR, Shepherd's Crook, Carbondale, PA - Shot 6

This view shows the remains of the massive fill that carried the gravity railroad around Shepherd's Crook. The fill can be seen curving to the left as the gravity railroad descended the Moosic Mountains into Carbondale. Most of the fill material was either removed or used in the construction of the switchback. Only a skeletal trace remains today. Photo taken with permission of the property owner.
