M&NJ Excursion Train 1964

The M&NJ Excursion train waits as Gen and Herm Hoops lead their Ayrshire cows across the tracks. Photo was taken where the tracks crossed their farm at Creeden Hill/Hoops Lane in Slate Hill, NY. Engine 103 was owned by the NY State Railroad Museum and led excursion trips on the M&NJ from Middletown to Slate Hill in the mid-60's. According to Dick Carroll engine #103 was moved to the Valley RR at Essex, CT in 1968. It was the first engine to run on the Valley RR and is on display at Essex near the Depot.
