ex Morris County Central 485 at WRM in its orignal southern dressThis steam locomotive came from The Virginia blue ridge railway in the 60s . Walter rich (NYSW owner)purchesed 3 steam engines for use on his Cooperstown & Charlitevalley . He later needed only one and Morris county with the help of a strech of unused NYSW track a Tourist railway was born called the Morris county Central. All 3 of the steam locomotives still exist and the 385 is the newest of the them to be restored. The one is in upstate New york under Walters collection. The other 4039 is on the states National historic equipment list along the the famous water tank on the line. The 385 was donated to Bergan Tech in the 80s for their steam program but was soon ended but the had the engine partly rebuilt . A trucking owner in the aera had gotten the engine and knew of its historical roots so he saved it for one day to be donated back to its home on the former MCC track. The son of the trucking owner after his father had passed had finally brought the 385 to whipiany NJ via a truck bed to its home after 30+ years of disrepair.
