Putting the Frame Away (For Now)

With #7's now boiler free from the frame, work on both can now begin where work on one could only be done.

The boiler will head to Alna, near our good friends at the WW&F railway museum (who themselves are working on a full restoration of one of their locomotives), where the crown sheet will be replaced, new tubes will be installed, and a new smokebox fitted.

The frame will become the next target of the MNG crews, as a through inspection, cleaning, and painting is in order for the framework and tank.

#7 is in the middle of extensive restoration to her boiler, and the museum hopes to have her back in steam by late 2009 or early 2010. For more information, please visit http://www.mngrr.org/engine7.html and follow the progress in our work session reports
