A New Coat of Primer

It's amazing how just a coat of primer can make an engine look better!

We fast forward to June in this picture, and ex B&SR is out for another work day. Today, Joe Monty, his son Jay, George Collard, and Rick Knight (CMO) are grinding tube ends from the smokebox and firebox. In addition, Rick, George, and Larry Urbanski will also be painting the boiler tube with the primer donated by Leo Piche (the photographer's father, thanks dad) and scraping more than a few years of oil and grime from the pilot area.

This is part of the work being done by the Maine Narrow Gauge Muesum to bring #7 up to FRA Form 4 requirements.

#7 is in the middle of extensive restoration to her boiler, and the museum hopes to have her back in steam by late 2009 or early 2010. For more information, please visit http://www.mngrr.org/engine7.html and follow the progress in our work session reports.
