A new life for the High Bridge

As the Poughkeepsie railroad bridge nears it’s 120th birthday, workers lay prefab concrete decking on the span as a CSX freight passes underneath on the old NYC West Shore line. Plans are to reopen the bridge as a pedestrian walkway by 2009, in time for the quadricentennial celebration of Henry Hudson sailing up the river named for him.
