Naugy move (1)

Since 2004 the Naugatuck RR has rented space to Mid-Atlantic Railcar for storage of a number of ex Long Island RR double-deck commuter cars. These C-1 cars were built as semi-permanently coupled pairs by Tokyu Car in 1990. Mid-Atlantic has the cars for sale or lease and recently "rented" a pair to an operation in Texas associated with the San Luis & Rio Grande/Permian Basin Group. The cars had to be "modified" (couplers and air brakes) for interchange before they could be moved, and finally "went on their way" on Oct. 10, 2008 with yours truly as engineer, Joe "Knuckles" Knowles as conductor and Ken Bitten of Mid-Atlantic Car as the "baby-sitter".

Photographed by BandAfan, October 10, 2008.
Added to the photo archive by Carl Weber Jr., November 11, 2008.
