Rollins Pass Line

The remains of the old railroad line through Rollins Pass, in Colorado. This is just east of the East Portal of the Moffat Tunnel. The track is gone on the old route now, the tunnel made it obsolete, cutting about 30 miles off of the trip, and 5,000 feet off of the climb. This was seen from the westbound California Zephyr, just before entering the Moffat Tunnel.

Photographed by James Ogden, August 22, 2005.
Added to the photo archive by James Ogden, October 21, 2008.
Railroad: Union Pacific.
