Rocky MountainsThe first of many horseshoe curves in Colorado, as the westbound California Zephyr starts the climb from Denver to the Moffat Tunnel, through an area known as the "Tunnel District," because of the nearly fifty tunnels in about 35 miles. This curve is "Big 5 Curve," and is located 17 miles west of Denver, in a place called Arena.
