NYSW 142 at Philipsburg on a newly rebuilt section of track first test run the 142 was built for the Valley railroad in 1989 by the Tang Shan locomotive works in Chinia to replace their older steam locomotive. At the same time Walter Rich , who owned the NYSW ( he passed away last year) was looking for a locomotive builder to build a steam locomotive. the last place on earth who at that time made steam locomotives and walter had heard about tang shan from the valley rr , he decided to have a exact copy of the valley rr 2-8-2 built for the NYSW . When the 141 was completed it borded a ship with other thing to the us but the ship was stuck in a storm and the ship went down in the red sea along with the 141. the NYSW had to find another 2-8-2 mikado so they called the valley rr and they bought theirs and it was renumbered the 142. Now the NYSWTHS owns it and we use it on train trips on the old Beldelver and western track in New Jersey .
