Mount Beacon Inclined Railway Power House at Beacon, NY

This is the Power House for the Mount Beacon Inclined Railway, located on the top of Mount Beacon, NY (elevation 1,539 feet above sea level). The railway opened on May 30, 1902 and climbed on a grade up to 65% to the top of the mountain. It was the steepest inclined railway in the world. The railway was closed in 1975.
