Catskill Creek bridge 2

Hard to believe that this rickety looking structure supported the steam locomotives, passenger and freight cars of the Catskill Mountain Railway. In 1892 the trip to the Catskill Mountain House was shortened considerably when the Otis Elevating Railway opened, taking CMRR passengers 7000 feet straight up the side of the mountain in about 10 minutes.
