Lower Road Richmond...yard?

Soon to be Traveled by an Excurion Train This Line is in Richmond, Me. from the http://www.470rrclub.org/index.php3 web page. We are planning a special rail excursion trip, in conjunction with MRG, Inc. (Maine Rail Group), on the Maine Eastern Railroad and the former Maine Central "Lower Road". This trip is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2008. Our train will leave Rockland at 7:30 A.M. and proceed to Brunswick, stopping to pick up passengers at Wiscasset at 8:40 A.M. and at Bath at 9:10 A.M. Parking at Bath is extremely limited. We will leave Brunswick, from the Cedar Street stop normally used by the Maine Eastern Railroad's tourist trains, at 10:00 A.M. and journey up the "Lower Road" for a true rare-mileage trip to Augusta, going as far as the track is deemed to be in safe condition. We will then return to Hallowell for a stop of approximately two hours. There passengers may choose to attend the MRG's Annual meeting or to eat lunch in one of Hallowell's several restaurants. Departure from Hallowell is planned to be at 3:30 P.M., when we will return to Brunswick and Rockland. Arrival at Brunswick is planned for 6:15 P.M. and Rockland at 8:30 P.M., but of course these times are not guaranteed. Fare is $50.00 round trip. Passengers may board the train in Wiscasset, Bath or Brunswick instead of Rockland, but there will not be any reduction in the fare for doing so. Box lunches on the train will be available as an option by advance order at $12.00 per person. Otherwise, you may bring a bag lunch, or there will be plenty of opportunity for lunch during the stop at Hallowell. Flyers will be included with the March issue of the 470 Newsletter. However, space will be EXTREMELY limited. If you wish, you may send in an order in advance, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope and a check for $50 (or $62.00 if you want to order a box lunch) for each ticket desired, made out to "470 Railroad Club". Send it to The 470 Railroad Club Trip Committee, 37 Longwood Drive, Portland ME 04102. If you can, indicate a phone number and/or email address in case we need to reach you with any last minute information. If you wish to receive a flyer in the mail, please send email to info@470rrclub.org or to jlbachelder@verizon.net. However, we do not advise waiting very long before getting your order in, as capacity of the train will be limited and we expect tickets to be in high demand! See ya on the train:)
The signals on this line are not in working condition, so every road crossing will have to be a "flag" stop the train will be limited to 10mph for most of the ride from Brunswick to Augusta. also Maine Eastern will have to check the line for obstacles and remove the dirt built up on the road crossings like this one. the last time this line saw passenger service was in 2002 with the Belfast and Moosehead lake railroad and Maine Coast ran an excursion train on this line back in 1995. I hope you have enjoyed this info:)
