Panama Canal Locks Railway One of the first-generation "mule" locomotives was cosmetically restored and put on display at the Gatun Locks. Visible in the middle of its deck is the turret for the cable used to tow the ships through the locks. Another one of these locomotives is preserved in St. Louis at the Museum of Transportation. Photographed by Allan Hicks, 1980. Added to the photo archive by Frank Hicks, April 23, 2008.
