This concrete abutment once carried the O&W Main Line over Old Route 17 at Mamakating, NY (the road is now known as Route 171). The underpass for the roadway was extremely narrow, and the tight confines of the bridge coupled with the sharp curve in the road made this an especially dangerous location. Not too many tears were shed by local residents when the bridge was removed after the O&W was abandoned. This view is looking east towards High View Tunnel, whose west portal is approximately a half a mile away.
