Central New England Railway - Rhinecliff Branch 1975

This sign when found in 1975 was in two pieces - both stood upright in the woods to age the passage of time. This photo was taken within yards of where found. Is that ballast in the foreground? Sign put back together, more than likely, since 1938. The rails were, more than likely, torn up in 1938 for War. Why, was the sign broken in half and stood upright in the woods?
The rails set at a dock . . .near NYC . . then went to JAPAN.

Photographed by David Benkart, Jr., 1975.
