OLD BEAUTY IN GROVETON

This old beauty was originally the equipment of Odell manufacturing. I am told that it was used into the early 60's, as a switcher for the Odell Mills. It is now maintained by its successor Wausau Paper. The future is uncertain, because sadly Wausau Paper announced on Tuesday that the mill in Groveton will close. this will be devastating to the North Country, and the mill's 300+ employees. The mill has been a fixture in Groveton for generations. The grizzled old buck in the foreground wandered over to chat. He was quite pleasant, and proved to be a wealth of information about the railroads, the days of steam, and the old log drives on the Conn. River.
