This engine looks very similar to the Maine Central 2-8-0 Alco No. 519 in the Steamtown Foundation collection. I don't know if it is one of the eight ordered by the Maine Central Railroad in 1913 or not. Scotty Mallett has provided the following information about both Maine Central no. 505 and no. 519. Scotty has done extensive research into the explosion of #505 in Crawford Notch, and he and a small team located the accident site. Two men lost their lives in the incident, and a small memorial has now been erected at the location. Thank you very much for the information, Scotty.
