Guilford MOW Re-alignment in Durham, NH

Today Guilford is straightening the track to it's normal position in Durham, NH. The track had been realigned about a year prior during construction of a road underpass, the first new rail crossing in Durham since 1909 (or therabouts). I was lucky enough to be trackside this day as a bus driver for UNH's Wildcat Transit as we shuttled Downeaster passengers from a temporary platform south of the Durham platform, to the train waiting to continue northbound on the other side of the construction.

Photographed by Jeremy LaRose, August 7, 2006.

Railroad: Guilford.
