Boston & Maine Engineering Dept. Motor Car No. 500

Ben Yuscavitch of the Seashore Trolley Museum is seen here pictured with his restoration project, the No. 500 car of the Boston & Maine RR. This 1934 Fairmont motor car was used by the Engineering Dept. to travel to various parts of the railroad for inspections. It's powered by a six cylinder Waukesha and seats approx six-eight people. It has cast 20" wheels and it's own special shunt system to trip the crossing signals. This car is unique. Only a handful were made. Even the Fairmont company has no records left on this class of car. It is a Class 3102 Series A. The car is about 85% completed. Donations to the STM may be earmarked specifically toward the completion of this car.
