CB&CNS Rwy MLW C-630's Westbound at the Canso Causeway

Big Alco power in action! Four of the CB&CNS Railway's ex CN, MLW built C-630's have just crossed the Canso Causeway and are thundering uphill on mainland Nova Scotia with a string of westbound Cape Breton Coal in the summer of 1995 (I think, it could be '96!) Sadly these units are all retired now, and most of them scrapped! But on this day they were still hammering out the miles, and the noise as they tore by was fantastic!

Photographed by Stephen Vallis, August, 1995.
