Guimard's legacy.

A beautiful Guimard station entrance at the Place de Clichy Station on Paris' RATP #2 and #13 Lines. The "art nouveau" design was the product of thirty-two year old architect Hector Guimard, who had been awarded the commission to design certain station entrances in the late 1800's. The Guimard design is characterized by ornate curved metal sculptures, approaching from opposite sides, forming a letter "M" where they almost meet. Many Guimard entrances had been lost through the years, however, some remain, and are now protected having historical building status.
