Arnold on Market Street .

View of one of the San Francisco Municipal Railway's first streetcars on Market near 7th, the 1912 "Arnold" cars built separately by the W.L. Holman Company and Union Iron Works, both of San Francisco. The car is seen carrying its large Eclipse Fender, which was designed to scoop up pedestrians in its path, preventing them from going under the cars. Market Street, for many years, had competing Muni and Market Street Railway Company streetcars running side by side on four parallel tracks, known as "the roar of the four". The historic Grant Building which survived the '06 eathquake is seen in the background.
