An Orange Line elevated train is seen leaving Dudley Station outbound on a snowy winters day. Tower "F" and the partially removed and abandoned crossover to the inbound side are visible. At this crossover, "Main Line" elevated cars would reverse direction and swing over to the opposite (inbound) side of Dudley Terminal to begin their inbound trek to Sullivan Square Station in Charlestown. Bypassing the crossover would lead to the Guild Street Shops of the Boston Elevated Railway. When the three mile extension to Forest Hills Station was completed in 1909, the Dudley loop was only used for elevated cars on the Atlantic Avenue Elevated Line, changing direction at Dudley, then heading for Sullivan Square. Later, the crossover turnout was removed after the Atlantic Avenue Line discontinued its use in 1919. The copper clad BERy towers when new must have been striking, prior to verdigre removing their lustre.
