Ex-New Haven GP-9 crawls across Taunton River trestle on the Dean Street Branch

Taunton, Massachusetts: Conrail local freight returning to Weir Junction after switching cars at Ventura Grain during the Summer of 1981 (even though I didn't have the film developed until September, as seen on the lower left-hand corner of the photograph). Relying on childhood memory, these locals first operated on Sundays (during the late 1970s) and then switched to Tuesdays and Thursdays by the time this photo was taken. The crews were a mix of ex-New Haven and Penn Central blood. Taken with my first camera, of the 110-film type.

Photographed by Karl M. Dietzler, 1981.
Added to the photo archive by Karl Dietzler, April 17, 2006.
Railroad: Conrail.
