A look insideValley line continued. Once the water started going through the culvert, it quickly worked to clear out all the rocks and dirt that shouldn't have been there. I'm happy to say that since this was cleared out in 2002, the water has continued to run through the culvert, we've seen no evidence that it ever (even during the heaviest rains) overwhelmed the culvert that was put in so many years ago. Of course it the washout is ever filled, a new larger culvert will be put in. It was a fun exercise that satisfied the curiosity of a couple of crazy volunteers! Now that we have punched through and will be maintaining the north end of the line going forward, we can hopefully prevent any other "issues" like the washout. We recently cleared a culvert just north of the washout that was getting quite plugged, and we will be monitoring the north end of the line regularly.
