Ex-Rutland North Dorset Freight Station

Driving north on Route 7 in North Dorset VT you see this structure. According to Bill, this is the former Rutland N. Dorset Passenger/Freight Station, built in 1895. It was moved back from the tracks and was a gas station for several years. It burned in the 1990s.

I drove by it recently and its condition is worsening. It seems too far gone to be saved as this point. Just north of here in Mt Tabor are several ex-GMRC and ex-CLP boxcars stored on a siding. The track through here is still used by a VTRS local from Rutland to Bennington, which sees service a couple times a week.
