AMTRAK-Berlin,CT

This is a shot just north of the Berlin AMTRAK station. The old main line is severed and the new track sweeps to join the mainline. This realignment was due to the bridge construction south of the station and the new higher platform (see my previous submissions for Berlin). Not that many years ago this used to be double track territory on the mainline.

The "roller coaster" track to the right is the Guilford track to service a plastics plant and was formerly the New Haven RR. branch between Berlin and Middletown. All that remains today are two short sections at either end that serve industrial plants.

The line to the left (by the white sign) that goes into the woods is the connection for Guilford Rail to the Plainville Yard (Train PLED - Plainville to East Deerfield).
