P.T Barnams prize Elephant carved in stone in Crawford Notch

P.T. Barnams Prized Elephant "Jumbo" was imortalized by W.M. Mudgett when he carved this into stone high in Crawford Notch. Jumbo would die a bit over a year later in St.Thomas, Ontario Canada on September 15, 1885. Do to lacking in communication, it was struck and killed while crossing a railroad track. It took 150 people to move the animal off the right of way. It completley derailed the train. Jumbo was 11.5 feet high, 6.5 tons and was 25 years old.
